Earn a High School Equivalency (GED) or an Adult Workforce Diploma through one of two programs presented by Knox Technical Center at Perry Cook.
If you need a GED (General Equivalency Diploma), register for weekly GED classes. Open to anyone age 16 or older. You will need to complete an orientation session, where you will:
- learn more about the classes covered (e.g. math, science, etc.)
- learn more about the four GED subject tests you need to pass
- learn how the material can be customized to fit your needs
- get an assessment to determine your individual education plan and goals
Some of the class work can be done online, but in-person classes are held weekly on Wednesdays. Current meeting time is 5:00-7:00 pm.
Or if you already have an industry-recognized credential or want to obtain an industry-recognized credential and lack a high school diploma/GED, we offer classes for the Adult Workforce Diploma Program (AWDP). Through this program, you will earn a certificate in a specific vocational program, as well as a high school diploma. Industry-recognized credentials correspond to training and certification for Firefighter 1, EMT-Basic, Certified Nurse Aide, Phlebotomist, and Nail Technician, as examples.
You are eligible for this free program if you are an Ohio resident, age 18 or older, and do not currently have a high school diploma or GED.
This program uses a competency-based, self-paced approach, meaning a customized plan and learning at your own speed.
There is no cost to you for these GED or Adult Workforce Diploma classes.
