A2Z

A2Z is the final steppingstone in our series of Early Childhood Literacy programs. It is our Kindergarten Readiness program.

Children aged 4-5 years are eligible to enroll. Child must be at least four years old by September 1, 2026 and eligible to enroll in Kindergarten in September, 2027 (five years old by September 1, 2027). It is a two hour program. All children must be able to use the restroom without assistance. We ask that you drop off your child with staff at the bottom of the stairs. Adults are welcome to wait in the library or leave their child with us, but will not be permitted to accompany the child upstairs before or during the program.

This program stresses letter and number recognition, phonetics, and writing skills. We will introduce concepts such as writing the alphabet, learning upper and lower case letters, and learning numbers 0 to 20. We will be using a hands-on approach by "building" the letters and include some worksheet activities. It is our hope that your child should be able to write his or her own name by the end of the program year.

This year we are using a wide variety of educational games, manipulatives, music, movement, stories, art projects, and some STEM activities to reinforce and strengthen the skills they will need for Kindergarten.

A2Z meets on Tuesday mornings from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm or Tuesday afternoons from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm.
